Rock paraguayo: del beat de los 60 al primer LP
A short history of local rock, from the beat groups to 'Música para los perros' (1983).
What it is
In the mid-1960s Paraguayan beat-rock bands appeared. Los Rebeldes recorded a four-song record in 1968–1969 before moving to Brazil; Los Blue Caps, signed to a major label, settled in Argentina and recorded three EPs between 1969 and 1971; the duo IODI also signed with a big label. The first rock LP recorded in the country was 'Música para los perros' by Pro Rock Ensamble, launched on 23 November 1983. After 1989 the scene multiplied, and since the 1950s there were also dance orchestras and jazz ensembles.
