Remberto Giménez
Violinist and composer who gave the anthem its current version and founded the Asunción Symphony.
What it is
Remberto Giménez (Coronel Oviedo, 1898 – Asunción, 1977) studied at the Ateneo, in Buenos Aires, Paris and Berlin. From 1928 he settled in Paraguay. He played in the Asunción Quartet, organized the first full symphonic concert and in 1940 founded the Escuela Normal de Música. In 1957 he launched the Asunción City Symphony Orchestra (OSCA), which he conducted until his death. His version of the national anthem was declared official.
