Mauricio Cardozo Ocampo
A leading figure of the 'golden generation' and a great folklore researcher.
What it is
Mauricio Cardozo Ocampo (Ybycuí, 1907 – Buenos Aires, 1982) was a composer, performer and researcher. With Eladio Martínez he formed the famous Martínez-Cardozo duo, the first Paraguayan act to perform at Montevideo's Auditorio Nacional del Sodre. He was a founder of SADAIC in Argentina and a founding secretary of APA. He composed over three hundred works, among them 'Galopera' and 'Paraguaya linda', and wrote books on Paraguayan folklore. He eventually returned to Paraguay and created the Perú Rimá ensemble.
