Digno García
A Luque-born harpist who took the Paraguayan harp across the Americas and Europe.
What it is
Digno García (Luque, 1919 – Geraardsbergen, Belgium, 1984) was a composer and performer on the Paraguayan harp, credited with spreading it widely across the Americas and Europe. He toured Central America with Gumersindo Ayala Aquino's ensemble and from 1952 joined the trio Los Paraguayos with Luis Alberto del Paraná. He composed 'Cascada', 'A mi Paraguay' and 'Mi nostalgia', and lived in Belgium from 1962. He received the Orden Nacional del Mérito.
