Sendero del Jaguareté y Museo de Itaipú Tierra Guaraní (Tekotopa)
A 1,600-metre self-guided trail past native Atlantic Forest wildlife, inside Itaipú's environmental center.
What it is
Tekotopa opened to the public on 20 September 2025 and combines conservation, environmental education and nature tourism. The Jaguar Trail is 1,600 metres long, takes about 45 to 60 minutes and is self-guided, with staff at key points and interpretive signs. At the opening it showed 12 native species, including jaguar, puma, tapir, capybara and parrots. The grounds also hold the Itaipú Tierra Guaraní Museum, a forest nursery, a medicinal plant garden and research areas. Itaipú reported more than 65,000 visitors in its first year.
Schedule
At the 2025 opening it was reported open every day except Tuesday, 8:30 to 15:30. In May 2026 Itaipú listed group entries at 08:30, 09:30, 10:00, 13:00, 13:30 and 14:00. Check current times before you go.

Free with advance booking, according to Itaipú (May 2026).

Book through Itaipú's Visitor Portal (apps.itaipu.gov.py/PWAP), by phone at (061) 599 8040 / 8094 or by email at cturistico@itaipu.gov.py. You need an ID document and must check in at the Visitor Reception Center in Hernandarias.
