What it is
The 1:100-scale physical model of the Itaipú dam is a three-dimensional representation reproducing the dam, part of the reservoir, the tailwater and a stretch of the Paraná River with its main tributaries in the area, including the Acaray, Yguazú and Monday. Each centimetre of the model equals one metre of the real structure. It helps you understand the general layout of the work and its relationship with the natural setting, and is very useful for students and curious visitors before or after touring the plant. It is at the Visitor Reception Centre.

Tips
- You need to show an ID card or passport and, for groups, a list of participants.
- Visits are booked at Itaipú's Visitor Reception Centre in Hernandarias or through Itaipú's channels; confirm the time slots before you go.
For the 2023 winter schedule Itaipú published: Tuesday to Sunday and holidays, in slots from about 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 1:15, 2:15 and 3:00 pm); the visit is booked in advance. Hours change with the season: confirm before you go.
