Did you know…?
The Remanso Bridge, opened in 1978, spans the Paraguay River to link Eastern Paraguay with the Chaco.
Before becoming a district, the area was called Corumba Cue and was part of Limpio.
History
Mariano Roque Alonso was created as a district on August 30, 1945, by decree of President Higinio Morínigo; it was previously called Corumba Cue. It is named after the consul who governed Paraguay together with Carlos Antonio López between 1841 and 1844. It's also the gateway to the Chaco: the Remanso Bridge, opened in 1978, crosses the Paraguay River to the Trans-Chaco Highway.
