What it is
Every July, the Rural Association of Paraguay’s grounds in Mariano Roque Alonso host the great national fair. Company and industry pavilions sit alongside purebred cattle shows and auctions, stands from every department, concerts and a huge food court with asado, chipa and traditional dishes. It coincides with the winter school holidays, so it’s a classic family outing for Paraguayans.

Tips
General admission in 2026: ₲25,000; under-12s free. Weekends are crowded, with slow traffic on the roads into Mariano Roque Alonso: go on a weekday or early in the day. Bring a warm layer for the evening.
