India
The guarania by Flores and Ortiz Guerrero declared the national song.
What it is
With music by José Asunción Flores and lyrics by the Villarrica-born poet Manuel Ortiz Guerrero, 'India' sings the beauty of a Guaraní woman through images of forest and river. It is one of the most solemn and beloved pieces in the repertoire: you'll hear it at official ceremonies, at festivals and in the voices of the great performers from Paraguay and abroad.
Did you know…?
It was declared Paraguay's national song in 1944.
Listen to
