Dancesiglos XIX–XX
Valseado o polca valseada
The polka danced slowly, in seven parts with a kneeling bow at the end.
What it is
The valseado is the polka danced with a smooth body movement to slow music. The choreography has seven parts: bow, waltz (men only), molinete, mazurka in a circle, slow waltz, the men's waltz, and a final bow. In the last turn only the women spin, while the men walk to their partners and bow on one knee as a closing salute.
Did you know…?
It is danced to slow music, unlike the polka, which is fast, lively and cheerful.
Listen to
A good chance to see it is at a dance festival or a patron-saint party with dancing.
