Directions

What it is

Organized by the Japanese community, the Nihon Matsuri draws thousands of people for food, taiko drums, dances, cosplay and cultural activities. In 2026 it takes on special meaning: it marks 90 years since the first Japanese families arrived in La Colmena in 1936. It’s a great chance to try yakisoba, takoyaki or sushi made by the community and to understand how much this immigration has contributed to the country.

What to see and do

  • Taiko drums and traditional dances
  • Dozens of Japanese food stalls
  • Cosplay and spaces for young people

Tips

Arrive early: the most popular food stalls sell out. Check the venue and times on the Japanese Association’s social media and at visitparaguay.travel.
