Fiesta Italiana en Paraguay
Music, dance, regional costumes and Italian food at Plaza Italia, with a charity-donation entry.
What it is
Every June the Italian community in Asunción celebrates Italy's Republic Day with an open-air day at Plaza Italia and the surrounding streets. It is a charity event organized by Italian-Paraguayan associations together with the embassy and the Municipality: entry is free, but visitors are asked to donate non-perishable food (at least one kilo) for children's foundations and homes. The 2019 programme, the third edition, included a popular Italian orchestra, a tenor and a soprano, Paraguayan singer-songwriters with Italian repertoire, the National Police band, performances by Italian schools, an art show titled Nostra Terra by artists of Italian descent and costumes from different regions, plus Italian food stalls.
