Asunción International Book Fair (FIL)
Ten days of books, authors and language: the country’s great literary festival, with free entry and a guest country.
What it is
FIL Asunción brings together Paraguayan and foreign publishers, bookstores and authors for about ten days of book launches, talks, workshops and activities for kids. The 2026 edition, the twentieth, had the United States as guest country, more than 60 exhibitors and over 200 events, all free to attend. It’s a great window onto Paraguayan literature in Spanish and in Guarani, and a chance to pick up local editions that are hard to find outside the country.
What to see and do
- Readings by Paraguayan authors and international guests
- Books in Guarani and local editions
- Children’s program and workshops
Tips
Free entry. Check the daily program in the press (ABC and Última Hora publish it in full). Weekends are busier; it’s easier to browse on weekdays.
