Cities · Cordillera · Cordillera and Paraguarí: hills, waterfalls and villages
Piribebuy was Paraguay's third wartime capital, and today it's a hill town of clear streams and powerful memories. The Comandante Pedro Pablo Caballero Historical Museum holds objects from the Triple Alliance and Chaco wars and, since March 2026, the Interpretation Center for the 60-stripe poncho para'i, a fine cotton poncho woven by several local artisans working together. The church of Dulce Nombre de Jesús (Ñandejára Guasu), from 1753, is fenced off for a restoration funded by Itaipú. Nearby await streams and waterfalls such as Piraretã, the sugarcane route and country inns.
