Escobar

Escobar is 78 km from Asunción and 12 km from Paraguarí. It was created on 30 August 1901 and is named for Patricio Escobar, a hero of the War of the Triple Alliance and president in the late 19th century; before that it was called Yukerí. It has about 7,000 inhabitants (2022 census). Its main attraction is the old Carlos Antonio López Railway station, with a museum of station objects, and the Itá Coty natural swimming area, with streams and vegetation. The patron saint festival is on 1 October, in honor of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, with processions and riders.
