Museo Histórico y Heimatmuseum de Loma Plata
The Menno Colony museum tells of the first settlers' arrival in 1927 and their coexistence with Indigenous communities.
What it is
In the heart of Loma Plata, the colony's history museum gathers artefacts, documents, photographs and everyday objects telling how the first Mennonite settlers arrived in 1927, the challenges they faced in an arid land and how they turned it into an agricultural and ranching centre. It also looks at the relationship between settlers and Indigenous communities, with a focus on coexistence. The Heimatmuseum ("home museum") adds reconstructions of typical dwellings and interactive stations with virtual-reality headsets to experience the colony's first decades in an immersive way.
