What it is
Itacurubí de la Cordillera is about 88 km from Asunción, at 155 m altitude, and has nearly 9,000 inhabitants (2022 census). It is called the "Garden of the Republic" for its vegetation. Its attractions include the Yhaguy stream, with clear waters that draw visitors in summer; the Ykuá Itá or "stone spring", in the Naranjaty neighbourhood, surrounded by trees; and the Itá Coty Natural Park, inside the city. Its craft traditions include pottery, crochet and quilts, and its patroness is the Virgin of the Rosary, whose festival is held on 7 October.
