Printmaker, draftsman and watercolorist (Brazilian settled in Paraguay)
What it is
Born in Araraquara (São Paulo), he was already an established artist in Brazil when in 1962 he agreed to head the visual-arts section of the Brazilian Cultural Mission in Asunción and settled in Paraguay for good. There he developed his mature period, with series such as 'Paraguay' (1956–1970), 'Lluvias' and 'Misiones'. His prints are held by the British Museum, the Vatican Museums, MoMA and the Metropolitan in New York, among others. He was also a journalist for 33 years. He died in Asunción.
