Emiliano R. Fernández

The great popular poet of the Guaraní language. He fought in the Chaco War and wrote songs every Paraguayan knows, such as 'Che la reina', 'Asunción del Paraguay' and '13 Tuyutí'. The anniversary of his death, September 15, coincides with Polka Day. He is credited with 'Rojas Silva rekávo' (1927), cited as the first known rasguido doble.
