What it is
Born in Slovenia, she studied ethnohistory in Ljubljana and Vienna and reached Argentina in 1947. In 1951 she traveled to Asunción at the invitation of Andrés Barbero and from 1952 directed the Ethnographic Museum until her death. She wrote 77 works on Indigenous communities, among them 'El indio colonial del Paraguay'. She received the National Science Prize in 1992, and in 2005 the Paraguayan post issued a stamp with her portrait.
