Trío Olímpico
Three musicians who represented Paraguay at the 1948 London Games, without being athletes.
What it is
The Trío Olímpico was made up of composer and singer Eladio Martínez, harpist Albino Quiñónez and composer Emigdio Ayala Báez. It was sent to the 1948 London Olympic Games to represent Paraguay in place of athletes, hence the name. They sang on the BBC in London before delegations from different countries, at Oxford University and before the British royal family, and extended the tour to several European cities.
