What it is

The Immaculate Conception Church was built in 1965 by a group of Franciscan friars led by Father Luis Otazua. Since then it has been the main parish and a spiritual reference point of the city; its patron saint is the Immaculate Conception, whose feast is celebrated every year with religious and cultural activities. In 2008 it unveiled a new façade with three works in sgraffito technique, totalling 60 m² of murals by the artist Jorge Aguirre, who has made similar works in Presidente Franco, Ciudad del Este and Encarnación. At night, monumental lighting highlights its architecture.
