Fundición de Hierro La Rosada (Minas Cué)
The rebuilt ruins of the iron foundry from the era of Carlos Antonio López, destroyed in 1869.
What it is
La Rosada, also called Minas Cué, was an iron foundry that operated for 19 years, from 1850 to 1869, in the time of Carlos Antonio López. It produced war pieces and tools, plus parts for the ships of the Paraguayan fleet. It lies inside Ybycuí National Park, created on 16 May 1973. It was destroyed in 1869 during the War of the Triple Alliance. Today its ruins have been rebuilt from the original plans and foundations, and a museum displays foundry tools and weapons made on site.
