Eco Reserva Mbatoví
Suspension bridges, two ziplines and rappelling in Atlantic Forest, with views of the Paraguarí hills.
What it is
Tucked into a corner of the Cordillera de los Altos, 10 km from Paraguarí, Mbatoví protects rocky slopes, streams with waterfalls and endangered chachĩ tree ferns. Its Tapé Saingó circuit follows the 2 km Yvaropy trail, crosses four suspension bridges, zips along two ziplines some 40 meters above the forest and ends with a rappel down a natural rock face, always with instructors. From the top you can see the Santo Tomás, Hũ and Perõ hills and the Pirayú valley.
What to see and do
- The Tapé Saingó eco-adventure circuit (about 3 hours)
- Two ziplines over the forest
- Four suspension bridges and rappelling down a natural rock face
- A lookout over the Paraguarí hills and the Pirayú valley
Did you know…?
It was the first environmental easement registered in Paraguay, in 2003.
Since 2019 it has hosted Bosquescuela, an environmental education program for children and teens.
Its forest is home to the Azara's agouti (akuti sayju), the crab-eating fox (aguara'i) and the tapeti rabbit (tapiti), among other mammals.
History
In 1999 Marta González Ayala and Jacinto Santa María bought the land looking for a weekend home and decided to protect it instead. In 2003 they registered it as Paraguay's first environmental easement, and in 2005 they founded the company that runs the eco-adventure park. SENATUR declared it of national tourist interest in 2006, and in 2019 its Bosquescuela (forest school) was born.
