The point of the country furthest from its extremes, deep in the Chaco: no marker or monument and hard to reach.
What it is
The geographic centre, or pole of inaccessibility, is the point inside the national territory that is furthest from its extreme points. It lies in the Puerto Pinasco district, Presidente Hayes department, near a ranch, at 23°14'25" S, 58°20'24" W. The nearest places are Makxamawaya, 20 km to the south, Ceibo, 28 km to the northeast, and Nueva Mestre, 52 km to the west. It is still not marked by any monument, boundary stone or plaque. The last stretch of access crosses private land, so this is not a place to visit on your own: rather a geographic curiosity to know about and, if the chance arises, to arrange with owners and local authorities.
