Areguá Strawberry Fair
Three months of basket-fresh strawberries, smoothies, cakes and liqueurs on the main avenue of Paraguay’s ceramics town.
What it is
In winter, Areguá turns red. Along Avenida Mariscal Estigarribia and in Plaza de los Héroes, dozens of small growers sell freshly picked strawberries and everything made from them: tarts, smoothies, ice cream, liqueurs, alfajores (filled cookies) and strawberries and cream. Entry is free, and it pairs perfectly with the ceramics workshops, the hilltop church and sunset over Lake Ypacaraí. August is usually the peak of the harvest.
