What it is

Concepción, the “pearl of the north,” is the cattle-ranching hub of northern Paraguay. Its traditional Expo Norte was taken over in 2026 by the regional branch of the Rural Association and renamed Expo Concepción, with a refreshed focus on innovation, business and production alongside livestock, stands and shows. It’s a good chance to get to know the city, its early-20th-century architecture, the port and trips on the Paraguay River.

What to see and do

  • Cattle show ring and auctions
  • Trade and producer stands
  • The city and port of Concepción

Tips

Book your hotel early. September is already hot and dry in the north: stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.

Dates may shift to the nearest weekend.
