Ayolas Catch-and-Release Dorado and Mixed-Species Fishing Tournament
Teams from Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil compete for dorado on the Paraná, releasing every fish they catch.
What it is
Ayolas, next to the Yacyretá dam, is one of the country’s great sport-fishing destinations. Its tournament, organized by the Yacyretá Fishing Club, brings together teams of up to three anglers, local and foreign, who compete for dorado (the prized “golden” game fish) and other species on the Paraná River, with every catch released. There’s an inclusive category for people with disabilities, free shore fishing for children and seniors, and the “Paraná costa pe” (“on the banks of the Paraná”) cultural festival, with music, dance and crafts.
