Refugio Faunístico Atinguy (Yacyretá)
A guided visit to a wildlife refuge kept by the EBY since 1982, about 18 km from Ayolas.
What it is
According to Wikipedia, the refuge covers about 100 hectares where native species of the dam's area of influence are protected and breeding programs run for species with conservation problems. The EBY asks visitors to go only with a guide, stay on the trails, not leave waste and not feed the animals. Visits are booked beforehand at the Visitor Reception Center. The refuge is on the road from Ayolas to San Cosme y Damián (sources give 10 to 18 km from the town entrance) and you get there with your own transport.

The EBY page lists departures at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:30 (morning) and 13:00 (afternoon); another section of the same page shows different times, so check current times before you go.
