What it is

The festival is named after an old water source, the Ykua Salas, around which romantic legends have been woven. It takes place in Itacurubí del Rosario's municipal covered hall, in San Pedro, and usually spans several days: a cultural integration meeting, a Latin American night with ballets and guest delegations, and a central night with national stars, the Ykua Salas International Ballet, the local conservatory's chamber orchestra, and music and comedy acts. One of the town's symbols is the cachapé, the traditional cart shown off in the artists' parade. The central night is ticketed (in recent editions between 30,000 and 50,000 guaraníes), while other activities are usually open to all. The national tourism authority has declared it of cultural and tourist interest.
