Santa Rita Expo
The biggest agribusiness fair outside the capital, with machinery, livestock and big-name shows in the “farming capital.”
What it is
Santa Rita, a town founded by Brazilian settlers in the soybean heartland of Alto Paraná, hosts an expo every autumn that mixes business and entertainment. There’s farm machinery, livestock genetics, cooperative and company stands, auctions and, at night, shows by Paraguayan and Brazilian artists, including sertanejo (Brazilian country music). It’s a great window into the “Brasiguayo” (Brazilian-Paraguayan) culture of the country’s east, with churrasco, chimarrão (hot mate, gaúcho style) and Portuguese spoken in the streets.
What to see and do
- Farm machinery and agricultural technology
- Evening shows by Paraguayan and Brazilian artists
- Churrasco and Brasiguayo culture
