What it is

On September 21 Paraguay celebrates both the arrival of spring and Youth Day. Schools and youth groups organize parades of floats and costumes—San Lorenzo launched its own in 2026—and many families head to parks, squares and streams with their tereré thermos. In Asunción, the Costanera riverfront and the parks fill up. It coincides with the last flowering lapacho trees and the first hot days.

What to see and do

  • Student float parades
  • Picnics and tereré in the parks
  • The last lapachos in bloom

Tips

Parks and swimming spots fill up: arrive early. It’s not a holiday for shops or offices; check each city’s municipal events calendar.

Dates may shift to the nearest weekend.
