National Day of the Para'i Poncho of 60 Stripes

What it is

A date proposed to honor the textile of Piribebuy, a cotton or wool garment woven on a loom with fine stripes. The Chamber of Deputies gave its approval to the date in 2021. In 2023 UNESCO inscribed the weaving techniques of the Piribebuy 60-stripe para'i poncho on its list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding.
